DeLuca, Weizenbaum, Barry & Revens, Ltd., Wins Settlement for Victim of Devastating Industrial Accident

When an industrial accident results in the loss of a limb, it can be a very traumatic experience. Now imagine losing nearly a fifth of your body in an accident. This is exactly what happened when one man in Lincoln, Rhode Island suffered a catastrophic injury while at work.

In 2007, an illegal Guatemalan immigrant was performing his job at Packaging Concepts, Ltd., when he became pinned in an industrial routing machine. The injuries he sustained resulted in the loss of multiple extremities, totaling nearly a fifth of his body mass.

In a recent Providence Journal article, Amato DeLuca said, “the agreement was reached with three companies, one in Japan and two in the United States that manufactured, sold and serviced the routing machine (he) became pinned in at Packaging Concepts Ltd.”

Although DeLuca, Weizenbaum, Barry & Revens, Ltd., was bound by the agreement not to disclose the settlement amount, the worker expressed deep gratitude in his interview with the Providence Journal for the compensation he will now receive. “I say thank God. It was a big accident and I suffered a lot.”
